The Four Kingdoms Series, Beyond the Four Kingdoms Series and the Spoken Mage Series

We are now on month 2 of quarantine and one of the benefits of being trapped in my house is that I have had a lot more time to read books. I am actually back on track to read 100 novels for this year which was my goal!

I stumbled upon the 4 Kingdoms Series when I downloaded A Dance of Silver and Shadow for free from Bookbub. I began reading it and realized that I was reading a series out of order so I stopped reading that one, and started over with the first book in the series called The Princess Companion. It only took one novel, but I was hooked.

From the author's website: "if you enjoy clean romance, adventure and intrigue, then try the books in The Four Kingdoms series now! Each book can be read as a standalone story; however, for greatest enjoyment, they should be read in order."

Clean romance? Strong female AND male leads? Fairy tales?!?! Sign me up! I quickly read through all of her books. They are light reading and good for the soul. She even has a non-fairy tale series called The Spoken Mage. It features Elena, who lives in a world where the mageborn wield power with written words. As a commonborn she shouldn't be able to safely wield power at all—and she certainly shouldn't be able to do it with spoken words. Elena has the potential to change her world—but first she has to survive the Royal Academy, a host of mageborn…and Prince Lucas.

These books are actually perfect for young adults readers, especially girls unlike most YA today. The material is not offensive, and the heroes and heroines work together using the unique talents of their sex instead of putting down one in favor of the other. I would highly recommend anything by this author.
